What is LOVE is on a Mission to END relationship violence in our schools and community.

Christy Stillwell is the former Director of Prevention for Domestic Violence Solutions. She brought two decades of her direct service experience, curriculum development, and evaluation to DVS in 2009-2012. In 2012 DVS had to make the difficult decision to eliminate its prevention and counseling services due to budget shortfalls. Christy saw this as an opportunity to fill gaps in service and to enhance her prevention curriculum with a restorative justice approach.

Since 2012, What is LOVE has provided programming to 33,690 teens in Santa Barbara County with the following outcomes: 300% increase in HELP LINE calls, 96% increased ability to recognize abusive dating behaviors which allows our educators to connect teens to needed resources.

We are currently the only organization solely targeting this widespread and underfunded issue.

Working directly with teens, parents, school staff and policymakers to educate, empower and activate students in a campus-based movement to end teen relationship violence. What is LOVE offers research-based critical programming to ensure effective dating violence prevention to Santa Barbara County schools, to strengthen students social-emotional strengths, increase educator capacity, build healthy dating skills, and connect students to resources.

What is LOVE brings tangible direct service experience, independent evaluation from UCSB and the skills and knowledge to provide high level training in dating violence policy, intervention and prevention.
